For the past two months, I noticed that the lil miss has become very interested in reading. She is more curious now than before that I had to point out the words in the book while I read to her just so she needn’t have to point the words one by one and ask, “What does it say?”
For the first quarter of this school year, if I’m not mistaken, her class is taught to read simple (three–letter) words through its beginning sound. I could just imagine what this does to her: prints on books, on newspapers, and even on walls suddenly become alive.
Then she brings in funny moments as she scans through her old picture books she used to snob before.
Seeing the picture below, she said, producing the first letter sound then the word, “Lelll…clothes”. Haha!
Examining the picture below, she said, “Muh-muh…candles!”
Then, this cracked me up most, she said, “Guh-guh…hat and paper!” LOL!
With that, I realize we need to screen the books more whether the contents are age–appropriate before buying. Lesson I learned (as a late–bloomer): Do not ignore the label that says, Age 7 and up. Hihi.
