that picture
My daughter and I went to a traveler’s lounge to get some tickets I was asked to buy. You know, my daughter is quite a handful; I had to fill out the forms and be quick to follow her with my eyes while doing so.
Then she stopped in front of a coffee shop, looked for me, and called out, “Mommy! Come here. Please. Please.” I approached her as she climbed into one of those chairs and insisted I sit opposite her and we get something to eat. I told her we still can’t because I have to get the tickets before anything else. So I told her we just have to come back and insisted she come with me. But she already sat there like a lady. Then she sort of told me in her own way to go back where I was while she’d just sit there and wait for me. I felt somewhat proud because she was acting like a grown-up, and didn’t get conscious with the people around her who were smiling and were charmed by her behavior. I must have looked confused because one of the coffee shop attendants volunteered to watch over her while I get the tickets a few steps away.
While I was falling in line to pay, I looked at her just sit there and behave. I also saw her interact with the attendant who was asking her questions. From where I was standing, I just saw my daughter grow.
After I was done paying, I joined her and asked what she wanted. She then went down her chair and moved to the pastry displays. She pointed at a very attractive chocolate brownie which costs P50. Nisiga akong mata. There’s no way I’m going to buy that. So I convinced her she get a revel bar for P25 (the most inexpensive). hehe.
Then she went back to her seat, took bite after bite of the revel bar, and looked at the ceiling, on the floor, and around her while busily chewing. When she saw his father come towards us, she had the widest grin. So did the father who couldn’t be any prouder.
Oh, parenthood: it's making me cheesier and cheesier by the minute. :hide:
