It’s really not that difficult to surprise me or to make my day bright. I don’t root for material things that much (beside the fact that we seldom could afford it. LOL! jk.) Seriously, it’s always the thought that counts.
For the past weeks, I’ve wanted to download music from ‘Everything But the Girl’ but just didn’t get to do it. In case you don’t know, I’m one big fan. I don’t have all their albums but I had this compilation CD of their greatest hits. But it wasn’t enough. It didn’t contain my all–time–favorite track ‘One Place’. I remember I had a blog about it in my old multiply account. hihi.
So this morning, I was surprised to read Fil’s tweets about ‘Everything But the Girl'. I read lyrics after lyrics and I was smiling the whole time. Thanks, Fil. =)
Then I thought it’d be lovely to hear one of their songs right then and there. But I just had to brush it off as there were more urgent things to do than to load the CD or download straight from the ever reliable YouTube.
All those times, I never said a word about it.
But when I stepped out of the shower and entered our room, ‘One Place’ by Everything but the Girl started playing in the background. Apparently, he was playing it via YouTube The feeling upon hearing the song was almost magical, I tell you. That’s how mabaw I can get. :hide:
How did he know? Maybe he just knows: how much I/we needed it.
"Happy to be home
Happy to be home
A summer evening; I walk past the windows,
The Baby cryin’; Someone's cooking dinner;
There's laughter on TV
And someone's learning the violin
And how at home, at peace
At times like this, I feel
I would like to live like anybody else
In one place
And I could be happy and fulfilled
In one place"
I am reminded that I still do, and that I am in my one place.
