Simala

Simala in Sibonga, Cebu is more than a two-hour drive from the city. I was a bit surprised the shrine was not as crowded as the last time we were there. Then it made sense. The 13th of the month was the next day which was also a Sunday. More devotees would be flocking their way by then. Yet regardless of day, month, and year people visit, they are there as one for faith, sacrifice, penance, and miracles.

silent hopes and wishes

devotees flock

to pay visit to the miraculous Blessed Virgin

I wish the solemness of the place will be preserved. The more I go there, the more I realize that it is slowly becoming a business of sort.

mao, mai. i was a bit surprised kay there were cottages outside like that in resorts where you pay to use them or their parking area. then daghan na kaayo namaligya. =(

i get teary eyed reading the letters of the devotees..you can read some heartbreaking petition for illnesses, and you can feel how bad they want a miracle..

na shock lang ko, grabe ka negosyante sa mga kilid kilid jane..everything has a price nowadays...

nice imong photos...maka remember gyud ko sa Simala=)
